Restorative Practices Summer Institute objectives:
- Learners will define key terminology related to restorative practice implementation, including: “restorative practices”, “conflict”, “harm”, “informal conversations”, “formal harm repair circles”, “community building circles”
- Learners will plan and facilitate community building circles that include age-appropriate activities for the students in their classrooms
- Learners will practice engaging youth in non-violent conflict navigation through employing affecting questions and “I”-statements
- Learners will explore the formal harm repair process by engaging in role play practice as facilitators, support people, person who caused harm, and person harmed
- Learners will identify the next steps needed for their schools/organizations to make paradigm shifts away from punitive responses to conflict and toward restorative responses to conflict
