How a former instructor continues to feel the power of the Conflict Center Beth McGrath’s connection to The Conflict Center (TCC) began when she was a child, then grew stronger when she was a contract instructor in her thirties. Now, after 30 years and a move to the Western Slope of Colorado, the Conflict […]
I appreciated my intern experience at The Conflict Center. I always felt my work, opinions, and feedback were valued which made it feel like I truly had an impact on the work that was being done. Since TCC is such a small nonprofit, it was really cool to have to opportunity to focus on my […]
The Conflict Center fostered a sense of community not found in all workplaces; the staff truly enacted the person-first philosophy by engaging interns, volunteers, and staff members alike in office-wide self and community care practices, such as monthly chair yoga, daily lunch breaks spent with peers, and plenty of celebrations.
Talking about me now without mentioning The Conflict Center, means not telling the story at all – it has been part of who I’ve become. It was indeed a place for meeting, exchange and a big learning point for me. I met wonderful people willing to give up on their owns plans when it came […]
My first contact with The Conflict Center was in the early 90's through Sue Haskell and Patricia Laverty. My efforts then were all craft related -- a puppet and emotion baby heads assembled from old panty hose. Also a beribboned wall hanging to hold volunteer name badges.

I owe a lot of the person and professional I am today from my experience as an intern at the Conflict Center. As part of the internship program, it is required to take the TACA class to learn more about ourselves and our conflict styles.
I began learning conflict resolution at TCC about 5 years ago. It was immediately apparent what skilled professionals everyone was but more importantly, what kind and thoughtful people they all were. There is a warmth and sense of caring that everyone there possesses that you don't always see in today's world.
I retired from my job in 2002 and after three years decided to do some volunteering. I started volunteering at The Conflict Center in 2005. The first job I did was help transfer the Library from Card Catalog to Computer, then labeling all the books and maintaining the inventory. I also started helping the Executive […]
I was attending Iliff School of Theology to become a mediator for churches. Conflict is inevitable in faith-based groups! I applied for an internship and part-time position at The Conflict Center. I was so excited to understand conflict in all its infinite variations.
